 New girl group: aespa!


A new k-pop girl group named aespa, released its first video and song this week, entitled 'Black Mamba'. Aespa is unique in that its human members each have a virtual avatar that are said to live in an alternative, virtual world called Kwangya, an alternative space. According to the South China Morning Post: 

"Fittingly, the act’s name, which is stylised in lower case as æspa, is a combination of the words “avatar”, “experience” and “aspect”. SM said the group would explore the theme of “experiencing a new world via the encounter of the ‘avatar’, your other self” (New K-pop girl group Aespa features human and virtual members, and comes from Red Velvet managers SM Entertainment)

The title 'Black Mamba', seems to refer to an evil being represented by the snake, that the girls in the group and their virtual avatars must defeat in order to save the world or worlds. Check out the video below and see if you like the concept:
