Insane insurrection

What on earth happened in Washington DC last Wednesday?

On Wednesday, January 6th in the afternoon a large group of people who support out-going president Trump were demonstrating in front of the capitol building. Soon the demonstration was out of control and demonstrators turned into rioters that burst into the capitol building. Unfortunately President Trump has been encouraging his supporters to question the fairness of the vote since he lost the election last November, even though the evidence does not support the idea that he lost due to fraud. Former vice-president Biden fairly won the election and the electoral votes were counted and nominated hm president on Wednesday evening after this uprising. None the less, Donald Trump still encouraged his supporters to interrupt the process of counting the electoral votes. At about 2:15 PM as the votes were electoral votes were being counted on the floor of the senate in the capitol building, pro-Trump demonstrators started surging past the police line and breaking into the capitol building. Their goal was to disrupt the ballot counting. The rioters broke into the senate and apparently wanted to burn the ballots. However, the ballots and the senators as well as vice-president Mike Pence, were rushed by police to safe locations as the rioters entered the senate. See the pictures below that show some of the chaos:

During the break ins, one female protestor was shot and killed by the police. In addition one police officer has died after being hit in the head by a fire extinguisher. In general, the situation was totally chaotic and unprecedented, meaning it has not happened before. Thankfully things are returning to normal and the counting of the electoral votes continued after the capitol was secured. As the rioters begin to be identified it is certain that many will be arrested and face punishments for their actions. Donald Trump will officially leave office in about two weeks. Should he be allowed to leave office peacefully or should he be charged with crimes because of what he encouraged to happen? See the articles and videos below to learn more details about this terrible event.
