Is Herd Immunity worth the risks?

Letting the coronavirus spread to achieve herd immunity is ‘nonsense’ and ‘dangerous’!

According to Dr. Fauci, our main public expert on the coronavirus pandemic, attempting to let the virus spread freely through the population in order to achieve herd immunity is unethical and dangerous. Herd immunity is when 60-80% of a population have been infected and therefore are immune to the virus. In a population with herd immunity, if a few people who don't have the virus get sick, it can't spread due to the fact that all of the surrounding people are immune and can't get sick again. In order for this to occur, millions of people would have to be infected and many would get very ill and others would die. This is a very difficult moral and ethical question. We would have to sacrifice many many vulnerable people. Would it be worth it? Dr. Fauci and other health experts say no. Dr. Fauci says it is nonsense and dangerous to attempt to infect so many Americans with Covid 19. Furthermore some people have been infected twice with the virus. All of this means that trying to infect as many people as possible is very risky and will end up sacrificing many lives. However, other people say that it may be worth the risk and some countries and areas have tried it. As of the start of October, fewer than 10% of Americans have the corona virus antibodies. That means herd immunity, requiring at least 60% of the population to be infected, is still far away. See the articles to learn more:
