No charges will be brought against the police officer that shot Jacob Blake in Kenosha in August
The district attorney for Kenosha, our neighboring city in Wisconsin, stated Tuesday that the police officer that shot Jacob Blake after law enforcement were summoned to the home of Jacob's girlfriend and children in August, 2020, will not be charged with a crime. According to police information, the incident that occurred on August 23, 2020 would not result in the police officer that shot Jacob Blake being convicted in court because Blake was actively resisting arrest, was attempting to take his ex-girlfriend's rental car that had their children inside without her permission, and because he had a knife in his hand and wouldn't drop it despite being repeatedly told to do so by the police. Furthermore Blake was tased at least twice but took the wires off of his body and was able to continue struggling against the officers. (Report on the Officer Involved Shooting of Jacob Blake Synopsis) Consequently the district attorney for Kenosha said that it would not be possible to prove that the police officer that shot Blake, named Rusten Sheskey, did not act in self-defense.

So none of the police will be charged with any crime and Jacob Blake himself, despite the incident, will also not be charged. At the time of the incident Blake was wanted by the police for a felony sexual assault against his former girlfriend, who was the individual that called the police. After the shooting, in which Jacob Blake was hit by seven bullets that has left him paralyzed, there was widespread demonstrating, rioting and looting in Kenosha for a number of days until the national guard was called. In addition, an Illinois teen, Kyle Rittenhouse, shot three demonstrators during the riots. Rittenhouse will be tried in Wisconsin, although he has pleaded not guilty despite strong evidence against him. There was an independent investigation of the incident and the federal government and also investigated the evidence. Thus there were many tragic consequences that resulted from this incident.
